Lessons We Can Learn From Peyton Manning On Change

As I often do as a life coach, I turn the lens on when I’m observing, listening, and analyzing current events. So when payment Manning was traded from the Indianapolis Colts, I couldn’t help but think about what he could be feeling and how he was being perceived in the media and how the trade impacted his fans.

Peyton Manning is the son of the legendary Archie Manning who played for the New Orleans Saints and brother of Eli Manning who recently won the Super Bowl with the New York Giants.

From 1998 to 2010, paying Manning the Colts to 7 AFC South division championships, 2 AFC championships, and to a Super Bowl championship (Super Bowl XLI). He has a record for league most valuable player awards, was the most valuable player of Super Bowl X LI, and has been named to 11 Pro Bowls.

This is a man who has everything. And yet we saw a very very emotional Peyton Manning during the press conference in which he was officially traded from the Indianapolis Colts.

What was he thinking, what was he feeling, many of us will never know and now Peyton has bounced back and is this starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

But there were some dark days I’m sure. When he underwent neck surgery in May of 2011 to alleviate neck pain and arm weakness he dealt with during the previous few seasons with the Colts, I’m sure there were questions in his mind.

And so today we want to just talk about them deal with this ideal of change. Change is the one thing that is constant in all of our lives and in the universe. We can’t get away from it. We can’t control it. And many of us have no idea when it’s coming.
